DESCRIPTION
Located in direct dialogue with an archaeological field, its architecture reflects its forms, like an architectural tautology. The volumes of the museum, embedded under an artificial hill, are perceptible by their roofs flush with the earth and they offer a double experience to the visitor: a walk on the surface reveals a three hundred and sixty degree panorama of the Vega Baja, linking the archaeological sites, the surrounding city and the history it tells.

This open-air space, a veritable open-air museum, showcases the visible past, while the underground museum preserves its memory. The decision to bury the building also helps to naturally moderate the sharp temperature fluctuations characteristic of Toledo’s climate.
