DESCRIPTION
The project involves the rehabilitation of a former university restaurant built between 1949 and 1953 on Île du Ramier, which is now severely deteriorated after more than fifteen years of neglect. Built on stilts and characterized by large volumes on the first floor, the building retains remarkable architectural interest despite the loss or deterioration of many original features.
The project aims to restore and modernize the building while transforming it into a new cultural venue. The various levels will house an artist residency, offices, shared workspaces, a café-restaurant with a concept store, and an exhibition space, while the ground floor will be dedicated to temporary uses and site access. This renovation seeks to faithfully reproduce the original architecture while giving it a contemporary identity, in order to integrate the building into the future Grand Parc Garonne and Toulouse’s cultural life.
