PROGRAM
The development of the new FFS station district is centered around a 22,000 m² multimodal transport hub connecting the FFS national rail network station, the FART regional rail station, and a bus station. The project also includes 6,500 m² of housing and services, a 7,500 m² hotel, a 4,000 m² retail area, and an 8,000 m² convention center with a capacity of up to 750 people, featuring exhibition spaces, meeting rooms, a lounge, and a panoramic rooftop for outdoor events. The complex is further enhanced by 15,000 m² of public spaces, a 9,500 m² three-level parking garage (350 spaces), and 1,500 m² of logistics space.

DESCRIPTION
The project aims to transform this strategic location into a new urban hub, capable of connecting different neighborhoods and revitalizing the entire city. Covering the railway tracks allows for the creation of a vast public terrace overlooking Lake Maggiore, entirely pedestrianized and accessible at all times.
This unifying space connects the East and West, North and South districts via a continuous pathway. Three promenades structure the terrace: an urban promenade lined with cafes and shops, a green promenade punctuated by gardens, and a wooden walkway opening onto the lake, suitable for events and festivals. The project also includes shopping arcades linking the city to the FFS and FART train stations, a modular convention center whose accessible rooftop transforms into a panoramic space and event venue, and a hotel facing the lake and mountains. Through the integration of these facilities, the new station district becomes a major public space and a true urban catalyst for Locarno and Muralto.
