PROGRAM
The Yvon Lambert bookstore has moved into a former secondhand clothing shop in the Marais district. Thanks to a new facade extending the existing building, this 200 m² space opens onto both the street and the courtyard. The ground floor comprises the shop, two offices, and an exhibition room. The 67 m² storage area is located in the basement.

DESCRIPTION
The subtly recessed façade offers a contemporary reinterpretation of Haussmannian stonework and opens onto large glazed metal frames, creating an intimate dialogue between interior and exterior. The façade establishes a close connection to the space and reinterprets the Haussmannian building’s architectural features in a contemporary way, through a delicate recessed design on a stone façade incorporating tall glazed metal frames.
Inside, a large bookshelf, considered an architectural element in its own right, runs the entire length of the bookstore to the “white cube,” the exhibition space. The furniture, consisting of small, modular, one-meter-by-one-meter units made of varnished raw steel, allows for a free arrangement of books on two superimposed shelves, one glass and the other mirrored. The existing structure has been preserved to the maximum extent possible: the original tiles seamlessly follow the concrete walls. The okoume wood bookcase lends the space clarity and simplicity. Through a play of mirrors created by the glass panels, the bookcase reflects itself throughout the room, imbuing the space with its own unique atmosphere.
