SYNOPSIS
Dominique Perrault is fascinated by the interplay between built space and empty space. For him, architecture always involves taking into account the absence of structures. One of the fundamental ideas behind his design for the Bibliothèque nationale de France is therefore the positioning of the four large towers: they define a vast space consisting solely of air and sky.
