SYNOPSIS
This book, the first multidisciplinary overview of the metro and its future, brings together viewpoints, challenges, and perspectives, sketching in turn a new mental map of the metropolis. Metro! In 1900, Parisians discovered the metro system with Hector Guimard. In 2030, residents of the Île-de-France region will travel on the Grand Paris Express. 68 new stations, 200 kilometers of new lines, 153 municipalities crossed: this construction project, the largest in Europe, will transform the daily lives of millions of people and also reshape our understanding of the city.
