SYNOPSIS
For Dominique Perrault, the constant transformation of spaces results in an increase in their complexity, diversity, scale and density. However, this cannot be adequately addressed by a single architectural approach whose vocabulary can be summed up in a few words: ‘walls, doors, façades and ceilings’. Consequently, his work consists of conceiving architecture as an integral part of the landscape. For Perrault, “the material of architecture today is not inevitably glass, concrete or metal, but space as it exists, as it permeates and as it flows”.
“Through his built works, his projects and his thinking, Dominique Perrault has carved out a unique place for himself in the world of contemporary architecture. He is still young by the standards of the highest echelons of his profession, and it is clear that he will increasingly be regarded as one of the leading figures of his generation.” – Philip Jodidio
