SYNOPSIS
With the DC Tower 1, currently Austria’s tallest building, Perrault has created a new landmark for Vienna. Situated directly on the Danube, this slender tower, visible from afar, provides a better link between the newer districts and the traditional city centre. It also brings Vienna closer to the water. Austrian artist Markus Krottendorfer has captured its elegant and versatile appearance, as well as its highly complex technological interior, in a photographic essay, highlighting the building’s many exceptional facets.
The history of the project’s origins and its vision – which has also been significant in terms of urban development – form the focus of two discussions led by the Austrian journalist and architect Christian Kuhn with Dominique Perrault and property developer Thomas Jakoubek.
