SYNOPSIS
This book is devoted to the National Library of France’s Technical Centre for Books, designed by the architect Dominique Perrault. Nicknamed ‘the Hospital for Books’, this specialist building is dedicated to the conservation, processing and restoration of the collections. Through texts, plans and photographs, the book explores the architecture and technical systems devised to ensure the long-term preservation of the written heritage, whilst highlighting the essential role of this infrastructure in the running of the Bibliothèque nationale de France.
