DESCRIPTION
Designed following an international competition launched in 2006 by the Milanese banking group Sanpaolo IMI, the project assembles several parallelepipeds forming a deliberately off-center and evolving composition. Two cubes, placed at an angle and slightly detached from the main volume, mark the entrance to the building and form a wide reception entablature.

The staggered arrangement of these volumes—an abstract evocation of the Alpine peaks surrounding the city—creates terraces at different levels, notably for the company restaurant located halfway up. The varied orientation of the volumes provides the offices with diverse exposures and views of the urban landscape. The façades are organized according to a checkerboard pattern, enlivened by a system of movable sunshades. Cut from a metallic fabric, these panels overlap the glazed façade like a light and protective envelope, modulating the light and giving the building an ever-changing appearance.
