The project is part of the Parisian institutional complex that includes the National Assembly, the Palais Bourbon, and the Hôtel de Lassay, the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It aims to complement this historic complex by respecting the classical layout of the mansions, organized around a courtyard and garden, stretching from the banks of the Seine to Rue de l’Université.

DESCRIPTION
The proposal redesigns the site to accommodate the ministry’s current needs while allowing for future adaptation. It extends certain parts of the historic building, covers existing courtyards, and introduces a transitional structure between the Hôtel de Lassay garden and the courtyard opening onto Rue de l’Université.
The new building, designed as a contemporary architectural piece inspired by the sculptural language of classical gardens, is constructed of Carrara marble. Its solid facade facing the garden preserves the privacy of the ministerial offices, while large openings look out onto the courtyard.
The courtyard floor is sunken to allow natural light to reach the lower spaces, which include a cafeteria. The complex forms a new mansion that engages with the existing heritage while introducing contemporary functions.
