DESCRIPTION
In Düren, the GKD factory is a true asset: it generates jobs, mobility, and trade. Stephan Kufferath, its CEO, wanted to offer the town a facility on the roundabout at Friedrich-Ebert-Platz, the largest in Düren, with a diameter of 75 meters. Overnight, a constellation of conifers reshaped the landscape and emphasized this boundary.

The trees become the protagonists of a verdant scene, transforming the road infrastructure into an open-air theater. The open space offers a wide view, and the gentle slope of the site accentuates the dramatic effect.
At the base of each pine tree, a large mat of metal mesh is installed, as if to protect their roots and bark from the soil. These mats, resembling luminous crowns, reveal a particular brilliance in the mesh. Around them, the grass continues to grow, undisturbed. For motorists, the spectacle is guaranteed: the movement of the car creates a kinetic vision of the mats, which appear and disappear, shining and shimmering in the driver’s field of vision.
