DESCRIPTION
Geography thus becomes architecture, and the ground an integral part of the program. Far from tending towards the erasure of the place, this project is based on the insertion of a gigantic optical instrument that introduces sunlight into each underground level of the building.
It is a hybrid instrument, somewhere between a Fresnel lens and a kaleidoscope, capable of projecting light outside even at night. Thanks to a clever arrangement of mirrors, it can also project images captured inside out, and reflect fragments of the surrounding nature and the city back inside.
The entrance is discreet, nestled into the hillside, and only the impressive glass parallelepiped emerges. This prism, which plays with both natural and artificial light, appears as a kind of beacon in the landscape, overlooking the historic city and guiding travelers.
