“As it is, even if it is completely different.” The restructuring of the Centre Georges Pompidou involves a radical gesture: lifting the floor of the interior forum and the parking lot buried under the piazza.

PROGRAM
The project involves the complete restructuring of the base of the Centre Georges-Pompidou, a building designed in 1977 by Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers. It aims to reorganize the public and cultural spaces—reception, performances, exhibitions, shops, restaurants, and bookstore—while renovating the Brancusi Pavilion, the Public Information Library (BPI), and relocating the Kandinsky Library. It also includes the creation of a New Generation hub, a panoramic terrace, the restructuring of the basement workspaces, the redevelopment of the logistics areas, and the replacement of the Georges restaurant with an event space.

DESCRIPTION
This project opens the building to natural light, which permeates the spaces on both sides, fully realizing the founding idea of an active, fluid base that is permeable to the city. Multiple access points allow visitors to freely traverse this vibrant base where the piazza extends and becomes an open stage for all forms of art, affirming the principle of art for all.
