DESCRIPTION
At the territorial level, the intervention affirms the site’s identity by structuring it into four distinct zones: the first dedicated to industrial activity, the second—the main zone—housing administrative offices, the third reserved for parking, and the fourth maintained as agricultural land. The project to be carried out, named “the guest table,” is situated along the main axis of the industrial site; it is intended to serve as a landmark, constitute a new geographical center, and establish a dialogue with the existing buildings as well as with the future flour mill.

Its location at the site’s entrance reinforces this sense of identity: it gathers, connects, and unites the diverse buildings and people of the factory, confers an identity upon the entire Barilla Group, and resembles a contemporary bell tower. Formally, the Barilla Learning Center is not anchored to the ground: conceived as a belvedere, it takes the form of a terrace that seems to float weightlessly; resting on four columns that integrate the vertical circulation, the structure evokes a monumental entablature. Functionally, it is a vast open-plan space whose layout can evolve according to the company’s needs and culture.
