DESCRIPTION
The tower is distinguished by its innovative volumetric organization: repetitive cantilevers create passive solar shading while providing accessible terraces on each level. This composition lends lightness and movement to the building, while ensuring the efficiency and flexibility of the interior spaces.
The height of the levels gradually decreases to reduce shadows cast on the surrounding area and ensure harmonious integration into the existing urban fabric.

The building envelope, designed as a double skin, combines clear glass, adjustable metal blinds, and operable double glazing for optimal thermal, visual, and acoustic comfort. The silvery, mirrored facades create a play of reflections that shift throughout the day, giving the tower a dynamic and evolving architectural character.
Inside, a rational structural framework allows for flexible and modular floor plates, capable of accommodating Austro Control’s services, third-party offices, or even apartments. The lower levels open onto the Donaukanal canal via public terraces reaching a height of 11.60 meters, connected to the district’s elevated promenade.
The west-facing balconies and terraces offer sheltered outdoor spaces, extending the comfort of the interior. By combining iconic architecture, a high-performance envelope, and flexible interior spaces, the new Austro Control tower exemplifies an urban project that is both symbolic and sustainable. It integrates into the existing neighborhood while creating new urban connections and offering optimal comfort to its users.
