Now
transformed, it renders available 37,000 m2 for pedestrians. It also
hosts new green spaces (130 trees were planted), leisure spaces, an exterior
amphitheater, small kiosks for shops, a 5-player football court, a basketball
court and a playground. The renovation also integrates a new public lighting
system, designed by the firm.
In
addition, the transformation of the square opened new underground accesses to
the subway, to the roofed commercial gallery and to a new underground parking
space.
The
inauguration marks the end of a massive transformation work of both the square
and its infrastructures, which began in 2013 after the completion of the new subway
station, which was followed by the completion in 2015 of the new roofed commercial
gallery.
