At le Cellier, near Nantes, the first stone of the construction yard for the extension of the Aplix factory was laid last April 4th; in attendance of Dominique Pelletier, CEO of the Aplix group, Jean-Philippe Billarant, former CEO of the group, Christelle Morançais, head of the council of the Pays de la Loire Region, Lionel Legouhy, head of the development of the company GSE and Dominique Perrault.
The original factory, conceived and realized by Dominique Perrault, dates from 1999. Its facade in pleated, polished and mirrored stainless steel constitutes its architectural signature and integrates the factory to its environment with plays of reflection on its surrounding wilderness. In 2001, the project had received the World Architecture Award, first price for the best industrial construction.
Hence, Aplix group has likewise given its project of expansion of 18 800 m² to Dominique Perrault (the total area thus changing from 30 000 to 48 800 m²) allowing to accomodate new industrial surfaces as well as spaces dedicated to new activities and living spaces for the employees (catering, sports hall, rest areas, training space ...) not to mention a research and development centre.
The building is planned for delivery in January 2020.
