Railway Station Afragola

Naples, Italy

New train station with shops and offices. Naple railway station is a "great urban house" open to the future neighborhood and the landscape of Mount Vesuvius. As through a long horizontal window, the view is panoramic. The railway station for trains at high speed air is almost "weightless", floating above the natural ground. This lightness is created by an apparent movement of natural soil topography. It deforms to create an extension of the surrounding soil inside the station. Station users enters the "Grand Lodge" using gentle slopes of generous dimensions. The physical relationship between man and the station is the possibility to walk free, simple and natural. Indeed, everybody could move "without effort" through inclined planes. You enter across, thanks to the multiplicity of access on the edge of the box. This building is a large shelter that protects the rail arrivals and departures, as well as business services and retail serving the railway station and the city.
